I see. If i don’t off-road my truck or abuse it in any way, would 4” rear blocks be ok? Or would it just be safer all around to go with the shackle flip?

Blocks should be fine, the vast majority of lifted trucks you see on the road are using blocks in the rear.

Blocks are fine. GM hasn't used them since the 60s, but Ferd and Dodge did up to the 70s, possibly later, I never really looked. Just need to be sure they are tight, after first install should check em every couple hundred miles to be on the safe side. I plan on running 5.5" blocks on my 99 if I ever get the lift installed....

Just be sure to use new U bolts and nuts (nylocks if you can) and torque them properly, and check every so often. U bolts stretch when you put torque on them so re-using old ones that have already been torqued and stretched might cause a problem.

On the topic of rear blocks, does anyone know if there is a difference between 2wd and 4wd for fitment?
