Hi guys!

Somehow I found myself a 1997 GMC Sierra in the north east of Australia... so I bought it.

It needs a few things to neaten it up, but mechanically it is rock solid. Unfortunately I'm not in the north east of Australia yet, so the old man has it in his shed, and given his words "if you don't buy it I will", I might find I don't have a truck when I finally get back home.. We will see.

Right now for rego I will need a new hood, drives seat, windscreen and seatbelt tensioner to make it road legal. Most of which I have already found. Pics to follow shortly

Cheers folks, looking forward to many shenanigans... you will all laugh as my truck has butterfly's on it.
I have my issue too, a weird miss that occurs only in gear. I put a thread up in the performance and maintenance section.

More photos, not great ones. But it's it's start.

So it isn't pristine, but for the money I spent that was never an option down here. The hood is rusted on the underside, the drivers seat will be either replaced or reupholstered, the windscreen replaced. I also need a pretensioner for the back seat belt. Those four things will make it road legal.

Welcome to the forum! Are gm full size pickups common in Australia?
Not at all, they weren't even released officially on the market. So this would of been imported and converted to right hand drive and then complied privately. So body work especially is gonna be a pain, seats and windscreens are already proving to be a pest... the rear seat belt pretensioner :33:

There was a run of Suburbans there were officially released by GM Holden from 1998-2001, they only sold 746 of them, 460 5.7L models the rest 6.5L diesels.
The market is changing now and there are official avenues to get an F-truck, Silverado or Dodge Ram..... but it is big money.

Nice! It doesn't seem that bad at all...so it's a 6.5TD?! Automatic? 1500 with that engine option are very rare here in the States.

I'm pretty sure you have the heavy duty transmission and rear axle for the heavier 2500 trucks...

Score!
