Just joined, got a '95 C1500 Extended, long bed, thats still new to me. Sitting on a 3" bodylift with 33x12.50s, hoping to be combined with a 6" suspension lift and 37s before the end of the year. A recently rebuild 5.7L and 4L60E. Look forward to being here and seeing everyones thread!!

Also, don't judge, trucks name is Lilith, hints the snake skeleton on the dash and the skull on the front, few other death inspired things on and to come!

Current things I'm looking at, trying to add a Lund Moonvisor on the roof, absolutely love those things, so I'm hunting that down. Replacing the rear bumper, can't decide if I want a full blown Iron Cross one or a classic chevy/ford looking steel bumper to replace this one. May lean towards the heavy duty one; at least getting bumper relocation brackets soon, previous guy added the body lift and just cut the top half of the brackets to move it up, which doesn't full match up as is. All new lights all around, still need to hook in the halos, figure out why my driver side headlight kind of hangs in there too, but I'll be getting a black grille soon, so I'll do all that when I get that, while its all apart. Several other plans, big plans, but just some small stuff for now, job issues at the moment, so I'll make a full thread at some point, when I can give actual updates on things because I can afford them!

Welcome!

Unfortunately, the 4L60E will likely be the first thing to kersplode followed closely by the differentials.

If it's a cruiser/show vehicle with 37's it might be o.k. but if driven aggressively you will have driveline failures.

You can help longevity a bunch by driving smoothly. You can still go heavy throttle but take a second to get there.

Impact loading is evil!:devilfinger:

Everybody sprays doo-doo butter all over the 4L60E, but the one in my fiancée's '02 Tahoe shifts better than any other four speed auto I've driven and has held up great some twenty years and 260k miles later. Everything on the truck is bone stock, it has gotten fluid & filter changes every 30k. Guess we won't put bigger tires and what not on it, as if we'd do that anyway.

While they may do well in a stock application larger tires and/or aggressive driving is likely to lead to failures.

I don't recommend larger than 33" tires for aggressive driving with 8.5" 10 bolt axles or 35" for show use.

Those size tires or the 37" the OP asked about will need a much higher ring and pinion ratio and that puts even more stress on the axle shafts and differentials.

For that size tire for off road/mud I recommend a corporate 14 10.5 FF and a Dana 60 in front.

The R&P and Diffs are more but they are certainly less than buying them twice.

Sorry, hadn't been on in a bit, yeah, I do worry about the difs with the 37s, but I do have a 4.10 gearing, so it should still push 'em, I try not to take off like a bat out of hell anyway, work my way up to speed nice and slowly. I don't offroad as much as of late, being yes a C1500 (2WD, 5 lugs yes, would like to look into the 6 lug conversion though, or just an stronger axle swap), even with the 4x4 '99 Explorer I had before this, I slowed down, was breaking stuff a bit too fast. lol

Yeah, I hear everyone talking crap about the 4l60e's, but I don't really mind, it was rebuilt just a couple years ago, not 100% on the mileage since, but they did say she sat a good while before I bought her. Still shifts just fine for the most part, heard mixed opinions on this being normal for it or not: depending on my acceleration, shifting into second tends to be a bit rough, causes the whole vehicle to lurch real quick, as long as its a slower take off, usually can't even tell. As said though, try not to be too aggressive, partly for that, but partly for the sake of gas these days too. So anyway, the rear dif does worry me a little, but again, its brand new gearing, recently rebuilt both engine and trans, honestly its not bad.

@Frank Enstein I'll have to look into those, may see about swapping them someday. Just need some funds saved first, having some job issues right now, stuck with side work to get by. Being 2WD, I know they can be fun to offroad in as well, but at least till I can get some new front and rear bumpers and my winch mounted, I'm not going to be doing that much. So, the lift and tires will be for fun/looks for the most part, once I have a way to mount the winch, it may be a different story, then I may look into it since I'll be more willing to take it out and possibly stuck. Plans, plans, nothing is set in stone yet, until I have a steady cash flow again at least.

And thank you for the welcomes everyone! Try to be more active as well
