High oil pressure. Oil filter gasket keeps blowing

Hey I'm a newbie so be gentle.. Haha. 96 Gmc Sierra. 305.
Started up truck and all the oil blew out thru the oil filter gasket.
I replaced the oil filter and gasket.
It blew out the gasket again causing all oil to dump out.
When I start it the oil pressure immediately maxes out.. 80lb+

What could it be?
I'm assuming oil pump is ok or it would have no pressure or low pressure.


Need help.
Fix it? Or get rid of it?

The pressure relief valve in the pump could be bad

relief valve....Make sure there isn't an oid dried up, dried on oil filter o-ring stuck on the housing that didn't come off with the old filter

There was no old o ring.. And I cleaned the surface thoroughly.

Is the relief valve a part of the oil pump or is it separate?

in the pump usually behind behind a roll pin of some sort. spring loaded
