Cool. thanks for the help.

sorry to beat a dead horse, but am I looking for a 4wd or 3/4ton 2wd axle. I don't really understand which would be better width-wise for the new wheels.

so I found a GT4 code axle 4x2 with 3.73posi for a good price. I have not gone to look at it yet, but I am concerned about abs? my truck is an 96, the axle is a 1988, will it have provisions for abs hookup???

also, I would like to go to disc brakes while I am at it, if it fits in my budget, should I be looking at a newer (2002ish) axle and modding it, or should I look for an obs axle and do a disc conversion kit on it?

if I go to a nbs axle, I could have quite a few options for brakes, I could go to the larger newer z71 rear brakes too
