Very happy to have found this forum. I live in north Georgia and looking forward to learning more about my 1997 GMC 1500. Glad to know I'm not alone with crappy brake pedal on the truck. My truck has 67,161 original miles, brakes are becoming my biggest problem. I'll use the search mode as much as I can, but bleeding these without a scan tool is becoming a useless process.

Try driving above 30 mph on a gravel or dirt road and slamming the brakes, this will make the ABS cycle and usually helps the brake pedal tremendously. It helped mine without bleeding afterwards, but you may need to do that to cycle the ABS, bleed the rears and cycle one more time. 90% of the time that stiffens the brake pedal on these trucks.
