Nice color! It is purple, but not dark enough for my tastes. My non gm400 vehicle was originally plum purple, but was going to change it to Audi velvet purple like in the attached picture.
This purple is almost...black. Not sure if that's the kind of"low maintanance" colour you have in mind lol.My '98 could use a paint job. Not really 'needs', but after the '97, guess I was kinda spoiled by that one.
Black. Nothing looks better when it's done right. I've had 2 black vehicles. After the first one, I said never again. Let somebody else own 'em.
When I went looking for my first 400, I looked at 11. 1 was red. Nope. 1 was green. I had just sold an '86 I had owned for 14 years that was green. Nope.
The others were black. Seemed like every one of them for sale at that time was black.
Eee-yea. Bought a black one. The low-mile one-owner one.
I've wanted to change the color since the first time (Next day!) I cut-polished & waxed it.
With this damned OCD detail thing, my heart starts to do funky-weird hoopty-doo's just thinking about maintaining b-l-l-l-ack. (Ack!)
Too old for that. Gotta watch the ticker.
I'd really like to get it painted purple.
Not 'Barney' purple. (Barney's the anti-Christ, don't ya know! lol!)
Dark, really dark, purple.
I have a whole file just on...purple.
Some are too red. Too pink. Too orange. Too brown. Too light.
So...wouldn't ya know it?
One of the closest shades I've found to what I like is on a 400.
This is the only pic I've ever been able to find.
Of all the different shades I've saved, I keep coming back to this one.
Seems to me there was a discussion about this truck here, years ago.
A GM mule with a lot of input from Lingenfelter?
Turbo (twin?) BBC. Bunch of other one-off stuff.
Ring any bells? Anyone with info?
Is this one & the mule the same truck?
Am I confused? Again? Still?
I have never seen this color listed as a factory option for 400's.
...and I've searched the GM paint codes & color chips across all vehicle production, 10-12 years previous to the Escalade.
A factory color would be nice just to be able to say..."Hey. 'Factory color'!"
Doesn't mean it has to be factory for a 400!
Custom-mixes are O.K, but for a semi-regular daily, original colors make touch-ups/repairs (Repairs?!? Oh-nooo!) easier.

Plum purple I felt was a bit too dark for what I wanted and decided that will change to a bit lighter audi color.Nice color! It is purple, but not dark enough for my tastes.
This is a wrap.
Not as expensive as a complete paint job, but still, not cheap!

The only truly low maintanance color I can think of is silver. And maybe champagne. But mostly silver really.
