Cut it off as flush as I dare with the angle grinder and a cutoff wheel.

Well body work is an art. I wish I knew more about it and could do some on my suburban lol
Same here. My poor tailgate, both doors, all of the panel from under the pass ext cab window to the rocker is pushed in and is like a tin can, and a dent on the back of the cab beside the back glass. Previous owner treated it like dog ****(besides the tailgate, thats on me).

But a skim coat of glazing putty, a day to dry, and a coat of filler primer took a most of it out. I can live with it. I'm basically gonna be respraying all of the silver parts as I found surface rust all underneath the rockers and doors, so it'll stay primer for a couple weeks. Not going to drive it so it'll work.

Ill also be running over all of the chassis parts with a wire wheel, rustoleum rust reformer, and a coat of low gloss implement enamel. If all goes well I'll hit the underbody and any crevices with fluid film and put some clearbra over the silver when it's all painted up.

I'm glad I have a CA then AZ desert truck! Nobody's touched this truck since it was born and I don't plan to anytime soon, ha ha.
