Hello everyone! My name is Charles Tiranno and I own a 1996 Chevy Silverado. I bought the truck about a year ago and the truck was originally from North Carolina. The guy that I got the truck from daily drove it just as I do, but the problem is, is that I live in western New York aka the salt belt. The frame over all has been solid and in decent shape for a New York truck. Today I was looking at the truck and a spot caught my eye. On the rear driver side by the gas tank there seems to be a crack in the frame. I will add a picture so everyone can see, but basically I want to know if it can be fixed at all or if I should just enjoy the truck while I have it or part ways with it. Overall the truck has been awesome to me and I don’t necessarily want to lose it. Any help or ideas are appreciated thank you guys!

Stress crack, easy fix. Probably going to be more work just pulling the fuel tank. That strap looks kinda umm...I dunno.

Couldn't disagree more. That is not some "I got a buddy with a welder" type fix. At least, it wouldn't be if it were me and my loved ones riding in it.

It is easy. Drill the ends, V the crack, lay in some beads, grind smooth, plate the inside. It'll be stronger than the rivets its all held together with.

I swear NOTHINGS easy. Just finished up today with frame. All the bs things just to do anything. Mine didn’t need welding. I’m so glad to be done with that. OP is the crack where frame is going up to back? I think that’s a common fail area with plow trucks.
