I’m considering upgrading to led 5/7 headlights. I already built a headlight relay harness so it can handle leds but I don’t know what affordable led headlights are worth buying. Any thoughts or ideas? And does anyone know of a spray paint that will hold up on these single headlight grilles? Would black or gun metal gray look better?

So far getting the bumper off has been the hardest part. Hanging the lift was easy. I did find out there are 2 different styles of factory bumper brackets. I have a spare set and compared them. I am cutting up a set of bumper brackets to basically be reinforcement plates for the receiver hitch and added support for the tommy lift frame mounts.

Got a good coat of paint on all the frame mount parts so once I bolt them up and weld the frame mount to the tommy lift mount I don’t have to remove them I can just grind where I weld and touch up paint them.

Didn’t get a lot done yesterday but I did get the bumper brackets cut down and the tommy lift frame mounts drilled for the 3rd bolt.

I had a set of Auxbeam 5x7 LED headlights from Amazon when I had a W/T grille on my 96, insane difference. Very nice cut off line as well so they won’t blind people.

I’m getting a 36000 mile 366 big block from a friend and I traded 2 z71 wheels for a TH425 from a motor home so it’s getting the red headed step child of the big blocks and the stronger version of a th400 transmission. It’s gonna be great

Hopefully I get a little shop built this year so I can build this one finally. I bought it in high school for $150 delivered and never got to build it. Plan is a 2001 5.3l and 4l60e and finish it up with a nice rust oleum satin black paint job. I may do a c notch/flip kit/ and drop spindle’s.

I got to drive my 98’ to work this morning and that lift is just enough weight to smooth out the ride. We are doing the frame supports and wiring this evening then I can finally get to a different project. Oh and I made a trade this weekend for a 98 “I think “ GMC Yukon 4wd that supposedly has a knock to the motor.

We got the frame brackets done, a support over the receiver hitch and got it wired last night so a few squirts of paint and it’s done and I’m on to the next victim.

Having the truck on a lift definitely helps for this stuff.

We decided to stick a piece of 2/2 box in between the hitch and the lift for extra support.
