I have been on here for a few years but never have I done any build threads and I have way to much crap going on to separate it all into individual threads so I hope you all enjoy my all in one GMT400, square body Chevy, 55’ Chevy “a little later “, whatever else I come up with thread. To start I have a new project for my 98’ C2500, We are about to install an original series Tommy Lift Gate. I have found very little on installing them but I have worked on them and removed them so here goes.

I ended up finding a good deal on a tommy lift from a guy who could not use it on his f250 and immediately went home and removed the utility shell.

Last night before Church I got everything in position and made sure I like what I saw. This week I will be trying HARD to get the gate mounted and document it and all the added bracing we do.

So the mounting is the same between different trucks? I've looked at a couple ex-municipal trucks that had lifts on them, but never made the purchase.

The mounts for the bed floor are truck model specific “T-150 is the part number for gmt400 “ the lift itself there are a few different widths. Mine is 60 inch from mount to mount. I am also using the frame mount kit and we are planning to use angle iron under the bed floor to connect the mounting plates in the bed to the frame with a few bolts.

Started the disassembly but had to quit when my 18 sockets went MIA.

Got the brackets in and our base for the under side brace.

The angle iron underneath will weld to 2 inch box tube that will run down to a plate that will bolt to the frame rail.
