First is my '98 @ 4/6.
Not the best angle to see the bit of rake. Only decent pic I've got at that height.
Like you, I didn't want that.
2nd. is @ 4/7. Mo' betta. Tops of the tires are now IN the w/w. @ 6" the tops were visible.
A 3/6 would be good.
These trucks need a 3" difference front to rear to ride level.
I've actually considered that drop for my '97 @ 2/4, but seeing as I threw away the stock hangars...!!! Oops.
...and the local P-n-P won't allow power tools in the yard. So no drills or grinders. Stupid rule.
Been on the look-out for some stock 1/2t SUV hangars. They'll drop the rear about 3/4" for a 2"/4.75" drop. (Have to drill new holes.) Not quite level, but close. I hate the rake!
On the other hand, I've never bottomed out any out my '98's front suspension. 200,000+ miles & over 17 years lowered with 'me' driving.
There's places where thngs will rub, sure.
Fender lips, lower rear inner fenderwells. Never bent a rim or sliced a sidewall. Has to be a pretty hard hit or whoop-de-doos at speed before stuff happens. The noises are more bark than bite. Sounds t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e! But not destructive.
Had a new cross-over made, though. It would sometimes touch on really big speed bumps in parking lots. That was the lowest point under the truck
90% of all those rub areas can be worked around with wheel & tire widths. Plus a bit of trimming & bending of metal here and there. Minor stuff.
