93- Oil Filter Cooling Line Question

It started up, but it ran really rough. The check engine light was for Code 43 = Electronic Spark Control, which means I have to switch the knock sensor over.

I'd be looking in the shop manual to see the proper diagnostic procedure, rather than jumping to conclusions.
