92 5.7L air conditioning question, need help

i got a 92 5.7L and my ac is not blowing cold, my question is how do i get it going again before summer

the fan motor is blowing air, just not cold.... i havent listened for the ac compressor to hear it kick yet, but assuming it works what should be my problem ? recharge ? if so can i do it myself ? (kinda straped for cash)

Recharge system and clean your evaporator (behind the blower in the dash)

You need to make sure the A/C compressor is engaging. The front of it will spin when it's engaged. If it doesn't, normally it's caused by two things.

1) Low on R134A (the compressor will normally cycle on and off if it's low)
2) Bad relay or fuse (won't engage at all)

I'd double check all your relays and fuses first. Super easy fix and often overlooked.

If all the relays and fuses check out, then do exactly what shelbyt.67 said and recharge the system and clean the evaporator. Don't forget to replace the orifice tube while you're in there.
