Ive been thinking about getting a set of gears for awhile now. Im thinking either 3.73 or 4.10's . I drive mostly 0-65. Hardly ever on the high way. I know where I can get a set of 4.10's from a friend for around 100 bucks there fairly new a month or two old. He blew the motor and is parting the truck out and is taking the gears out for me. I know I would have to change my front gear ratio how hard of a job is that? and what would I expect from the new gears? Or should I just buy a set of new 3.73's? Thanks.

Is your current gear set 3.73s? Do you tow any? I doubt you'll see much difference and you won't get your money's worth out of them for your application.

Where would I find one of these numbers? My glove box?

i agree with fast go with 3.73. 4.10's might be a little much on a 4.3 motor.also i saw you have that on a 98 chassis did you use the axels from the original chassis? if not those numbers in the gbox wont match to the 98 axel if thats what you used

I'd run em, be a whole new truck then going to 4.10's but why have him get the gears out just swap complete rear ends or is his 2wd?

You could leave the front alone, just don't put it in 4x4. if you do swap the fronts the whole front diff. comes out and seperated to get in and change them
