what'd did you end up buying and where? I'm going to do the same with a single cab step side except for white and dark garnet
I havent done the paint job yet, but lately ive been thinking of just doing rustoleum automotive grade rattle cans, im pretty good with rattle can and I don't care about it looking totally perfect.

Be careful about where you use Rustoleum. I used it inside my cab on the floor pans, but my rear window frame needed repair. Rustoleum and urethane don't work well together, and window sealer is urethane. I ended up spending about $200 on 2K urethane primer and paint rattle cans to repaint the rear window frame and top of my cab.

does anyone know if its safe to use rustloleum 2x paint/primer with a 2k clear coat? Or would I need to clear the rustoleum paint with a 1k?

They're incompatible. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/instant-orange-peel.60126/

If you're going to use a 2K clear coat, use a 2K primer and paint as well. After reading @DeCaff2007's experience, I cleaned the Rustoleum off of Roscoe's rear window frame and painted it with 2K primer and paint. I spent $200 for 2K rattle cans to paint the top of the cab, but it's worth it to ensure the rear window doesn't fall out. Yes, my bodywork sucks - it was my first time doing serious body surgery and my only real concern was getting the window frame welded in well enough for the window to fit.

The problem with 1k paint is that it's not stable, gas, fuel, brake fluid can ruin it. It's non-catalyzed/activated paint. 1k rustoleum clear on top of 1k rustoleum paint prior to a 2k activated clear is a disaster waiting to happen. Putting a true urethane over an oil based enamel doesn't work it. If it doesn't wrinkle it might turn into fish-eye city. Re-think this plan.

Got it. For the price of 2k rattle cans to do the whole truck, its probably cheaper to do it with a compressor and a gun. This is what I would have done, except I don’t have an air compressor. I understand that you would need at least a 60 gal for it to be able to keep up, but is it doable with like a 30 gal compressor and I just have to let it catch up every so often?
