Learning moment. Nobody can remember every detail usually. Raise your hand if don't have mobile phone with a camera. Take some photos, do it every time. I was taking photos with my Cannon SLR on any engine teardowns. When , " what's a cellular phone , a brick ? " Yeah back then.
Now it's sooooo easy. Take photos, it's easy, 5 seconds, will save you how much, " where does this go?"
If your NEW to mechanical skill learning! More photos have been taken in the last ten years than the previous 100 years!
Take photos of what your starting on , in progress, and have the in hand information to successfully complete your repair and or project. Win, Win ! :waytogo:
Well I'm not new to mechanics, like I said I spent 3 yes building my 97, replaced every part on it. Did a full 1 ton SAS with hangers and brackets/crossmember I fabbed myself, did a auto to stick conversion, went through 6 trannys. 4 teases, 3 rear ends, 2 ifs diffs. Put a 10" lift on, crossover steering, And I was getting ready to flatbed it when my tie rod end snapped in half at 65mph... plowed into dirt wall, went up it at angle and caught air.. landed on my roof and rolled twice b4 it stopped back on wheels... it's just this 1 little fitting I didn't even really forget, just don't see where to attach a hose cuz the brake booster is different.

insane pics... hope you made it out uninjured, but that looks like it would have been difficult.

Well I get it goes to brake booster. But where? My 97 had the big round style booster. This 2000 literally has nowhere to attach a hose. Which is why I'm confused. Unless I'm missing something, Here's what it looks like

Greetings chevyguy97,

The quick answer is that your old vehicle had a JBn brake system, which
derives the Power Assist from engine vacuum operating on that big round
booster you are familiar with.

On the other hand, your new (to you) 2000 has a JDn brake system, which
derives the Power Assist from the power steering pump hydraulic pressure
system. (Follow the lines from behind the brake master cylinder and you'll
see what I'm trying to describe.

NOTE: If you still have the original RPO options listing on the inside of your
glovebox then everything your truck was built with is listed in alphabetical
order. Look in the J area for a JBn or JDn listing and post that here, and
now the brake gurus will know exactly what you have to work with.

By the way, the HydroBoost brakes are generally considered to be the
better/more HD braking setup.

Hope this helps. And welcome to the GMT400 forum.

Cheers --

See , we give you the correct answer based what vehicle have, and what your repair, problem , info you give. Had we been looking under hood, " oh, Hydraboost, doesn't go there" .
Is your PCV system in place and complete? Is this a highly modified from stock setup?

Yep. I came out without a scratch or a bruise... was alittle sore for few days but nothing major. Only saving grace I had was that I had my oxy-acetylene bottle in my backseat... the impact made the oxygen bottle swing forward and smacked me in the back of the head, but after the impact I flipped in air and the bottle kept the roof from completely caving in.. passenger side roof is on the floor, driver side came down to about the bottom of window. I'm 6"5 so I keep me seat back.. I got really lucky.. just wish it wasn't that truck I rolled... I spent 3 yrd everyday upgrading or fixing her. Had 12k invested in parts... that's what hurt the most in the end..

I believe they are. I modified the power steering on my 5 7l slightly to make the high pressure line work. 5.7l has 2 steering lines. 7.4l has 3. So what I did was I took the Evo sensor out of my power steering, applied a fitting that don't leak, and then attached high pressure line to the fitting. I know this means I'll have high pressure steering constantly and all that. But it's what I could come up with

wow, that's lotto winning luck. not to sound cheesy but the truck can be replaced, your bodily parts would have been a bigger loss.
getting another OBS is more fun when you're healthy. cheers

Yaa just hurt cuz of the amount of time, money, effort, and it being my first actual build I cared about... all that just for a tie rod end on the drag link to snap at the pitman arm... I saw the wall comin, i just grabbed the wheel and hammered down.. was on revv-limiter in 4th by the time I hit.. I didn't wanna hit and dead stop. I wanted to go through the dirt wall. And I did. Took a 6ft deep chunk out b4 I got airborne...stupidly wasn't wearing my seat belt either.. still opened my door and stepped out without a scratch..I always wear my seat belt now.... oh well, I've already started over since I got the 2000... 4l80e tramny went into limp mode within a couple weeks, swapped to manual, then 454 threw a rod b4 month 2 of ownership. I've had it since late December, paid 6k for it as a perfect running truck. It was for 1st week... it's clean body tho. Clean interior too... just need a harness and I'll be set... anyways. Thanks for the help everyone, til next time.
