If you can ls swap you can 8.1 swap both of mine are done with ls harness and pcmRight on. I'll search for his posts/threads.
I honestly haven't even looked for one around here, but I'm sure I could dig one up, and then change my mind when I see what they want for one, especially a pulled one already. A few years ago a 5.3 went for $500-$600, now asking 1k. And 6.0s are 2k now. Could only imagine what a 8.1 would go for ready to go.
But the pick n pulls around here ALL the motors are $350-$400ish, just gotta put the sweat equity in.
Thanks for the lead.
You flip outer wires on cam, crank sensors
Move crank sensor wiring to area of cam sensor on ls harness
Move cam sensor circuit to timing cover area, with a striped harness you can do both without the need to extend wires
Then with the 5.3 tune move over ve table, timing tables from a 8.1 tune, bump idle 100 rpms then you have a running 8.1 if stock, if not then it's usually tuning like anything else
That also let's you go DBC but you have to modify a LS throttle cable bracket, which I'll add to my build later but simple to make work
As for trans side of harness I already segment Swapped 80e from the 60e, pull 2 wires from trans plug, move a 3rd and take the 2 Removed add the ISS pigtail
That'll have you setup to run a 80e
