Update with Homelink unit installed in place of the garage door opener door and dome light lens in place of the sunglasses storage door. These didn’t fit perfectly in this configuration so I applied some hot glue from the inside after removing the console from the truck. I tapped into the existing overhead lighting circuit for the light and added a couple leds that are attached with double sided tape.

Wiring for Homelink and compass/temp mirror was run through the roof to the driver side A pillar down under the dash. I ran out of time to complete those connections tonight though.

Removing the sunvisor and cab marker lights made it a lot easier to feed the wiring through the roof panels.

I made it out to the pick n pull today and can confirm this lens came in overhead consoles in S10 Blazers, Jimmys and Bravadas which also have the home link module that should pop right into the truck console. Looks like the years are 95-04.

I grabbed what I could find since I was there. None of the lenses have part numbers on them.
have you installed the home link openers yet?, i put one in this weekend, the male connector coming from the overhead had a brown wire that wasnt used, i connected the white wire from the opener board to that one, and orange to orange, black to black. everything worked and programmed just fine, but now im having issues with the courtesy lights either not coming on when i open the door or random flickering of them.

I have not, but was planning to follow this write up sine my wiring colors matched. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/home-link.26001/

In addition to the Homelink, I installed a temp/compass mirror and still have a backup camera to install. Was planning to do all at once and when I pulled back the carpet to find a good spot to run the camera wire I found rusted floor pans due to rusted/leaking windshield channel so my focus has shifted to getting that fixed.

that is the same thread i used, except programming wasnt quite clear. you still have to program the buttons with the remote with the rolling code openers first before you can program the buttons with the learn button on the opener. now that i have it working i think im going to go back and disconnect the brown/white connection to see if the light issues stop. from what i can tell this only lights up the little red triangle, which was only really needed for programming.

i really like the added light, im gonna have to go find one next junkyard trip

Quick question for the group,

I’m resurrecting a 00 z71 and am replacing the overhead console. The donor console I have, the rear ac control is mounted in there janky and it rattles worse than the toy your sibling gave to your 2 year old.

I’m going to throw the old switch in the donor console, but how the heck do you take it out w/o destroying the ac switch mounts in the console? I’ve fiddled with it for a while now and it’s like there’s 2 tabs that you can’t remove w/o messing up the console. I’ve yt-d and googled to my hearts content and I still can’t find a tutorial.

I take it back. I got annoyed with it to the point I gave it some umpph and popped the sucker out. I see the two tiny tabs that were giving me sass. Too much shadows and crummy vision. My bad gents!

The part number seems to be 12386664. But of course it is discontinued.

Any help on what year S-10 for this lens? I’ve tried searching for S-10 dome lens and keep coming up with a Dorman part #74323 which is much smaller than what would be required to fill the hole after removing the garage door opener door from the console.
I never see those lights in the S-10s or Blazers. I do see them in Astro vans. There's no real way to salvage the light out of the Astro console, just relocate the lens and fabricate a light behind it.
