I think I've read awhile ago that the regular cab OBS trucks have the provisions in the steel inner roof structure to install an OEM overhead console, is this correct or do I have to do some creative installation like self tapping screws ? It was a straight forward install in my extended cab plow truck. Any info would be appreciated.

Did you ever pull your headliner down to have a look? I've also been looking to add some kind of overhead console.
In my RCLB it had no provisions but, my ECSB did have the provisions. In the RCLB I had to center the front drill the hole for the front screw cut the legs off the back and center rear then put 2 screws inside the CD holder compartment.
