Hey I just got this truck and noticed this wire is jacked, it goes to from the alternator to the battery. I suspect its a fusable link and kid b4 me had a big stereo system with wires everywhere I had to dig out (K60 100 amp alternator lol) but not sure. Also don't know why jacket is a different color on either end of the damage. How do I go about properly fixing this? I wasn't sure if the red part came apart or? I wasn't able to find a replacement on rockauto, maybe my search term was flawed not sure. Thanks for any help!

It looks like a spot weld or spot solder joint. It's ugly and should have had shrink tube. You could cut out the offending section and solder and shrink tube. Cut out and crimp a union in. Or wrap in quality electric tape slide convoluted tube up and ziptie. And wrap open area in silcone tape, sticks to itself call it good.
Fuseable link is sold in bulk. Like "i need 18 inches to splice in." Good luck.

I got fusible link eons ago from Napa. I think it came in a small roll like regular wire? Was the same blue color as what's on our trucks.

Mine had been fixed before, not properly sealed. It corroded off. I replace the top half to the battery and left the fusible link alone. I did have to cut back a bit from the break to get clean wire. I used a piece of 12 gauge wire, a butt connector and heatshrink.
