How can i fix small wire from battery to alternator??

I had the main cable crap out one me before. I'd be driving and everything would die (including the truck), then come back on. Unbeknownst to me, the cable had been spliced before. I found out by letting it idle until it died, and saw smoke from the problem area. We spliced a piece that lasted about a year, then I replaced the whole assembly with a new one. No more issues.
