Okay, got a 94 chevy P/U CDM and a 90 Cadillac Brougham CDM. Both restored channel change ability, volume control, and clock. I tried both and I can not get any sound no matter how high I turn it up. All plugs are in and antenna also. I do not have a mute button. You think I have two bad ones or am I overlooking something?

It may be that some or all of your speakers are dead dead dead!. When I put a new head unit in my '93 there was no sound at all. I checked each speaker by touching clip leads from a 9v battery to the terminals.

All four were completely dead, (note only touch to terminals, never hook the battery to them for more than a quick touch. If speaker works at all you will hear a click).

In my case there was no noise at all. When I installed new (cheap) speakers from good ol' Best Buy, the radio came alive from all four positions.

I just wanted a good radio in the truck, my speakers are run off the head unit with no additional amp. It is plenty loud enough for average use.

No, speakers not dead. I pulled a CDM out of a 95 Seville today, and all 4 speakers work with it. Unfortunately, the Seville CDM does not support 5 band EQ. Only the outer bands lit up, so that's not going to work for me.

For the continuity of this thread, CDM model number 16169996 (pulled from a 95 Seville) is not compatible with the 5 band EQ, but otherwise works with GMT400 head units.

This is probably sacrilege on this thread, and in my defense I still have vinyl records and a tube amplifier, but I pulled the stock non operational radio and cassette deck out of the 94 K2500 and replaced them with a Kenwood single DIN with a USB port and Bluetooth. I ordered the head unit, wiring harness and dash replacement panels from Crutchfield.

I am in your corner on this one. I don't mind the center radio at all. It pretty much looks like it belongs there. The USB and Bluetooth are really good too with the hands free phone being a safety item that brings the truck into the current century.

I wanted to go back to the original setup for the radio but couldn’t find my cdm box or cassette deck. The original head unit is still in the truck. Didn’t feel like buying replacements so I’m going with the Santa Cruz radio that goes where the original head unit is.
