Is there any detrimental effect to pulling the chime 'thing' out? I pulled mine a few days ago and I've noticed that it takes a little bit more throttle to get up to speed now. The chime is the ONLY thing that has changed. I havent even filled up on gas.

You pulled the whole thing out? So now there's just a hole in the side of the dash?

nope shouldn't change anything other than being easier to lock your keys in your truck, and getting rid of that horrendous noise of course lol

I just came across this a few days ago. Next time I go to the pick n pull I'm grabbing a chime from a 90s GM car. I hate the chime in my truck, but I don't want it off. This one sounds much better IMO.

I also picked up a door buzzer that "chimes" for the truck. I prefer the chime to the buzz and I need to keep the warning for "keys in" or lights on. It came out of a 90's impala if anyone is wondering...
Little video on the diff between the original door buzzer (black) and the "new" door chime (butterscotch color) that I swapped in:

Just with the key on and then key on/off.

Most guys just rip 'em out and are done with it. I need it in there because the wife drives the truck too and don't want her to forget the lights or something similar. The chime just sounds nicer.

Plus, I find it's the little things that make a vehicle more enjoyable. This is cheap, plugs right in and just upscales it that little bit....

Well it's pretty hard to lock my keys in the truck. The rear door doesnt lock automatically and the driver's window motor is out, so it can be raised and lowered by hand from both sides...

Seat belt light on dash won't work anymore. But other than that no ill effects on the motor.
