I'm surprised you got it off the old tailgate so straight. I love those banners! I converted my 92 from a GMC to a Chevy just so that would be part of my truck.

Me too! They are one of my favourite GMT-400 features.
I'm not going to lie...getting it off the gate was a b****. I don't know how long it took... hours. I started out cutting it away with a big olfa knife and once I got it started I slipped in a big hacksaw and cut it away from the gate. Couldn't think of any better way to do it at the time, and I didn't have the heat gun to help. I took my time because I didn't want to damage it. It did work out well though, not a bit of damage to it from my end whatsoever, which isn't always the case when I work on stuff
If there was any hope of saving the whole gate I would have done that, but it was a goner.

Haven't been able to. Straightened it a little (it was worse) but this metal is pretty weak and won't take much. I think I'll just have to live with it, unfortunately.

You should have done what I did, I just bought a tailgate that had a banner in good shape and painted around the banner to match my truck ha.

Been looking for one and can't find anything. My tailgate doesn't even match my truck anyways. I did see one at a junkyard not long ago but the gate had seen better days so I left it there.

Parts are some hard to find around here.

Thanks guys, it turned out pretty well, not perfect by any stretch but not bad. I dunno, it's pitted pretty good, I'd rather have it look naturally bad than try to fix it and make it worse...
