The TBI is not the most powerful engine, the heads hold it back lots, a cam would help it, a prom (all or most vehicles older than 1996 have OBD1 computers which are far less complicated than the OBD2 systems and have little to no compadibility. PROMs are for OBD1 Computers (a little chip that is swapped out) OBD2 computers can be tuned with or without changing the Entire Computer) prom wouldnt do much without the cam/heads .ect

The Big 3 are something good to start With.
I believe its a sticky under performance

What are you looking to spend, And what are you looking to Gain?

For example you want to spend 500$ and get better Low end torque.
I would Suggest Possibly a regear (depending what gears and tires you have already)
Higher Stall TC
E-Fans
Throttle body Spacer (just to keep the thread goin)
New Air Cleaner

I would not suggest Headers because they do move the torque band up, Yes more torque but its not available down low where it was before.
A little better Flowing Exhaust will help it breathe a bit better but its more for the sound (may as well let them know it is a 350 under there)

Its all about what you want to get out of it and what you want to spend.
If your Looking to spend More then i'd get into Heads (vortec heads and a mariene intake with A longer Duration Cam and full roller rockers, If it were me..)

Why would you not do the really cheap or FREE mods first? then go from there. redo the stock air cleaner setup since it is best but could use some tweaking and do the mods that are easy and cheap. LT's are amazing and so worth it with the right setup behind them.

I have used both TunerPro and TunerProRT and it is very good IMO for free software. The only thing a spacer does is increase plenum volume. It has nothing to do with fuel and fuel atomization. All it gives the engine is more air beneath the TB to draw from. Stock fuel pressure ranges from 9-13psi (normally between 11-13) on our trucks so unless your running more than that or using larger injctors, its not doing you any good. Please read the links below about TB spacers...

SMH, are you Tempted's brother? TBI is a wet intake setup so a TB spacer allows the air AND fuel mix more time to mix and are to atomize. I had 11 psi when I checked mine totally stock, I bumped it to about 13 and it made an amazing difference. Also stock psi is 9-12 psi.

With the right setup behind them... Some People arent happy with the change of torque band, thats all. I wish mine woulda stayed down low, especially when i tow.

From what I remember with your cam specs, that is where the torque band shifted...not the long tubes.

YA you have a cam, that changes EVERYTHING, plus depending on your pipe size and if you have a x or h pipe will make a difference.

The wrong exhaust setup will hurt low end and velocity, plain and simple. I am not going any where just saying that it matters.

No I am not Tempted's brother.

Yes, the proper exhaust system is very important to making good power, but unless you have a 500+ HP motor, tuning the exhaust wont to you any good. And I know your going to argue with me on it, so do your self a favor and do some research on it first. Now on a stock engine with a very poor exhaust system, any good set of headers, high flow cat (or just straight pipe) and a good muffler will do wonders for adding power.

Yes a cam can and most of the time does change where your engine reaches peak Volumetric Efficiency (peak Torque) and also where it makes its most power. But a good cam will make more power starting out and will make more power through out the power curve as well. A good low duration, high lift cam will give you low end torque. A long duration, low lift cam will give you more high end power. So unless he went with the later cam style, then I would put money on it that he is making more power through out his power band.

Ah, got you confused with Bluex who was babbling about not needing mid pipes a little while back. Continue.
