The interior looks like it was built the day before someone realised plastic could be moulded.

Still, something to be said for bare bones basic - even if the pinstriping has to be viewed as 'ironic' - or best not viewed at all.
Any idea what it weighs?

Wow, thanks guys! I didn’t think this would get that much interest :Big Laugh:

Compnine doesn’t recognize the VIN and the various VIN decoders online just bring up generic model year info. This is about the only interesting bit I’ve managed to find so far:

  • MFR MODEL CODE
    CK20903
  • Original Pricing
  • MSRP
    $14,473.88
  • INVOICE
    $12,485.88
  • DESTINATION CHARGE
    $550.00
CURB WEIGHT
4628 lbs

My friend's dad bought a plow truck very similar. Red with red interior - and nearly not in as good of shape as yours! I don't remember if it was a 350 or 305, but K2500 with the TH400, basic interior, no A/C. That was the first time I saw those types of heater controls. Growing up when I had my '92 with the electronic controls failing (and too young and broke to replace) I'd probably wished I had those classic sliders!

They only had it a short time. They rebuilt the TBI unit, rear brakes, and had to weld up the frame behind the cab because it was too rusty and thin. I think everything else worked, but they ended up selling it immediately after. Definitely crazy seeing how little they could've sold them with.

Imagine getting a modern vehicle with so few options. I don't think the car companies would even let you do it.

Seriously! It’s almost laughable seeing what some of the standard options brand new “work trucks” come with. I would consider those fully loaded compared to some of the trucks I’ve had.

The O2 being down low by the Y-pipe is likely due to the heavier GVWR.

3L80E (TH400) is simply because there was no heavy duty 4 speed overdrive automatic in 1989; 4L80E didn't hit the scene until 1991.

That bare-bones interior trim is somewhat common on the Cheyenne trucks; I've had several of them like that as parts trucks. They don't even have B-pillar trim, just a little grille over the speaker.

No dash vents - now that is just plain crazy! Hadn't seen that one before.

Tow hooks are an extra cost option on many models - I don't see it on your SPID label; guessing someone added them?

I noticed...no hood insulation pad.

I’m not sure on the tow hooks. It’s a strange puppy.

One other weird thing is it only has 2 speed wipers, Hi and Lo. Not that incredibly uncommon, but there is no self-park feature on them, which was strange to me.

I also didn’t realize there was no cargo lamp on the rear cab - just nothing! I can’t ever recall seeing that before either, I think even the W/T were all optioned with cargo lamps.

I’ve only seen the no dash vents on here, never in person

Any chance you could provide a link of other ones you’ve seen before? I’m having an incredibly difficult time finding a picture of what the “no vent” dash looked like where the center vents usually go. I’ve only come across one bezel (currently listed on eBay, I’ll post that picture here) that has no vent area, but it has a huge cut out for what looks like may have possibly been an oversized storage cubby, but the storage part itself is missing.

This is what I believe the truck originally had in the center bezel. There are no vent cutouts, but I’m not sure what the large hole was for, other than the possibility of a missing storage bin. It’s definitely for an 88-94 dash.

Worst case, I can come up with one of these “vented” bezels with the storage cubby, and block off the vents. I think some of the aftermarket stereo bezels used to come with vent block offs at one time.
