So I came out to a shattered steering column this morning after someone tried to steal my 93 k1500 from in front of my house. Does anyone know of where I can get a metal shield that wraps around the column to prevent access to the column? Sorry if this isn't the right category, any help would be great as I am having no luck finding one

No help on the question but the thief was pretty amateur. The other side of the column has the "rack" you need to push down to start the vehicle. I wonder if he/she was surprised when all he could do was make the lights flash?

Well if you get an alarm recommend a train horn. That will call attention if the thief's open or break the glass lol. If I had a kill switch I would use it in the driver side seat. Heard law enforcement here has there's on the seat as well. Think they have a 3 step process though
My thoughts exactly. I know the school of thought, why put money into a $50 motor, but the value of the motor isn't anyways what you pay for it. If the rotating assembly and the block is in good shape, the only thing left is cam and valvetrain. Why buy the same solution twice if you can buy it once and be done with it?
