yes. I put it like this... You can make a 4cyl honda engine 1000hp. How much money do you want to throw at it? I am personally building a 350 for my truck for sentimental reasons. It is a 350. It is a two bolt main. I know it will have limitations on hp. I am doing it anyway. budget is also a factor. I chalk it to it is what it is. If it were not for the value of my attachment to the engine, I would throw it away. it is how much do you want to do it. If you feel a reason to do it, by all means do it. It will work. If it has a lot of miles on it, please get it machined first. The cylinders will be out of round and tapered. You will want a straight cylinder bore to start with. There is nothing worse than putting a lot of thought and effort into something that will not last very long.

I would love to see a 305 stroker doing well. I just do not want to see someone regret there choice later also... It is not that i am trying to stop you, just be prepared that it can be costly. Please do all your homework. You will probably find a lot of reasons to not do it.

just an afterthought, I was originally just going to put in a couple hundred dollar rebuild kit in my engine. I was told the mileage needed the machine work. The block is still at the machine shop and it is getting decked. piston pins installed on new pistons and bored to align with the new bore. If your block needs boring, which it probably does, this effects you. It is about $1000 at my shop. I am just redoing my 350.

A Chevy 305 has a 3.74" Bore with a 3.48" Stroke. A Chevy 350 has a 4.00" Bore and a 3.48" Stroke. So technically its just a smaller bore. The 305 heads are 53cc chambers and can be put on a 350 to increase compression, but at the minor expense of flow. Plus the 305 heads crack easily. The 350 heads come in either 64cc or 76cc chambers and would reduce compression if put on a 305. So it’s not really a good combo for an already weak motor.

I don't know but, 1st question that comes to mind, is the water jacket the same in both engines? Is there enough cylinder wall to bore that much (0.260") out?

So since I am just trying to get more power out of this 305, does anyone know about any head and cam combos I could use? From what I can tell online, it is difficult to find a set of heads for a vortec because of the special intake manifold, which I would prefer to keep stock along with the EFI. Furthermore, from what I can find, getting better flowing heads with bigger chambers will lead to a loss of compression in the 305. Is it even possible to upgrade these 305 heads and keep the stock manifold?
