not going to pick sides,,, but i have had a hitch receiver break on me once,,, and i will be one to say that saying that you know what to do and being able to do what you want to do are two completely different things,,, ive been trained for many many years how not to panic and to keep calm during intense situations,, ive taught a CPI class (crisis prevention and intervention) for a little over 3 years now,,, so it does take a lot to wind me up,, but i will say that when my reciever snapped,,, and that trailer shot past me and down into the hill on the left side of me there was nothing i could do,,, if i tried to take my truck after the trailer i would have most likely rolled the truck,,

and on a side note,,, anyone that thinks their little 1/2 ton gmt will stop that heavy of a run away trailer shouldnt really be towing anything,,,

just my two cents

I never really thought about how it would look with black tails. Something I could look into though :)

some black tube steps would look sick :)

Just gonna throw in my 2 cents. Not choosing sides or getting into the debate. All I want to say is that if this small argument causes you I want to delete your account, man that's sad. No offense, but you don't need to be on the Internet then. Not being mean, just saying the members here are just trying to help and you gotta consider what we read sounds different than how you are trying to say it. Stick around man and enjoy the information and conversation here!

Mods, this needs to stop. Everybody needs to just have a good handshake and buy each other a beer. Unfortunately we're mostly all too far away from each other to do so.

Anyways...
Yesterday I put around 1900 pounds in the bed of my 3/4 ton, not the first time I've done so, but I was amazed at the handling difference between it and my old half ton. It was a longer haul on rougher roads than the first few heavier loads I've hauled with the "new" truck, and it was night and day. Almost no "bouncy frame" or that feeling that something is almost certainly going to break.
I feel slightly better about the 6-8 MPG I loose with this truck.

Woah- 6 to 8? What mileage did your half ton get vs. your 3/4?

My half ton gets 14/15 on everyday runs, but toting two barge wagons full of wood I get about 9/10. (3.73 gears and 285/75/16)

argument over...everyone take a deep breath, count to 10, and go work on your truck...
