Thanks Adam, I looked through some of your build thread...good stuff.
Of course now you have me thinking "I need me one of them there storage boxes too". Dang. But I don't think I feel like relocating the vapor canister just yet, which seems to be part of the program to put one of those in an '89, so I may be able to resist that a bit longer.
I'd been thinking to tap into the fusebox to power the mirror & oc lights, but your accessory panel has me wondering if that would be a better route. At some point I'll be installing an aftermarket head unit, and I know I'm going to have to go back and reverse engineer whatever was done by installers ~20 years ago when I had a separate EQ and amp installed for a sub box. I also need to connect the '95 power buckets that replaced the original bench seat. They're not hooked up at all at the moment.
You mention tucking the wires just inside the headliner, can you comment on that a bit more? Do you pull part of it back using trim tools and tuck the wires in? Something else?
I had the headliner redone by a professional ~12 years ago, and I've never personally taken it out. I hear it's something of a PITA to do that, but I'm starting to think it might be worth it just to get a better understanding of the overall landscape up there. When I took my door panels off to replace the window sweeps, I also took that opportunity to un-tint and re-tint the windows, which seemed to work pretty well. Working in the headliner area might be the same way.
