Looks like someone attempted to disassemble these units from the front.

Driver side is dissembled to mostly individual parts. The adjusters appear to be glued or sonic welded together so I won’t attempt a complete disassembly without a means of appropriate reassembly.

Steps repeated for passenger side:

Part 1.4: more passenger side damage

One bent adjuster
2 broken tabs (structural)
Several cracks
Missing edge piece and center divider

The bracket is slightly tweaked, the cracks don’t easily line back up. I’ll try boiling the piece for a while to help it relax. Brackets are made of a glass fiber reinforced plastic but the hot staples should still work well.

Both assemblies are fully disassembled and parts are accounted for.

Part 2: repairs and restoration

The bent adjuster still functions

The bent screw was put into a m5x.08 rivnut. Heated and bent into shape.

Some light taps with a tiny hammer, and rethreaded with the appropriate die. I was able to cycle the adjuster throughout its full range.

It’s not perfect but it functions like it’s supposed to

Part 2.1

I was able to get 4 of the 8 adjusters taken apart, cleaned, thread chased and reassembled today.

Nice work. Can’t beat a nice score and some light wrenching.
$8…. For both assemblies.
I’ve seen everywhere from $140 a side to $500 a pair being asked for these.

I did find a NOS passenger bracket for $35 shipped though… :33:

The light wrenching is good for me. This restoration stuff really makes me happy.

I wonder if someone would give me $200 for the refurbished adjusters :rotflmao:

The first set of quad beams I got, was from the U Pull And Pay, on one of the 50% off Days they used to do, and I think the whole set cost under $20. Beams were cracked, but those are still available. Second set came from there, but no more discount days. So I think they cost around $50, but I got pigtails with that set. Had to clean em up a bit before they went out of state....
Next set came from LKQ and they no longer have a price in their system for sealed beam headlights. So they charged me for fog lights, 4x $17 + TT&L. But these still have good Guide bulbs in them, and are pretty clean for yard parts. What grinds my gears, is that I've missed a couple of sets in the yards, from being too broke to get them. Haven't got a yard trip in since August last year, I've missed a bunch of stuff.
