If you haven't, it won't take you long to find out!

There is always one more earth cable you didn't see lurking around somewhere out of sight. :)

I did manage to get them all first try! It helps when the one behind the head wasnt reinstalled during the last engine replacement

Now you can re-loom the engine harness. :)
I’ll definitely be doing that… again.

Is the olive oil pump aftermarket? I need one of those.
I just went through my last 3 pages in this thread trying to figure out if you had a missed spellcheck, or if I did, or if there was something in the background in the shop that I hadn’t noticed…. Then I saw it…

My dad was bagging and tagging for me. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: I’m sure there’s more that will pop up.

This explains why, even with 15w40, I’d get 2-3 psi hot oil pressure.
The rear most main cap that holds the oil pump was half plugged with junk under the bearing.
(Edit: it’s just the threaded hole for the pump bolt)
Rod bearings looked ok, #1 main and cam bearing has big gouges in it.
3 of the cam bearings have a lip and the cam journals are gouged pretty bad.
Cam had to be almost slide hammered out of the block.
NONE of the cam bearing oil holes lined up with the main bearing oil holes.
All the lifters had to be persuaded out of their bores with pliers because of the oil varnish build up but other wise look serviceable.
-They’re soaking in simple green, I’ll take them apart and check them.

Oh, and the one freeze plug I tried to get out is completely stuck and now completely destroyed so I might let the machinist take them out lol

It's great that you do stuff like this with your Dad and that he has a sense of humour. My Dad is one of those that picks fault with everything I did even when it had nothing to do with him, but that's the luck of the draw I guess.

Yea he’s pretty cool, he’s really heavy handed and just yanks on things and strips bolt heads so I gotta keep an eye on him lol but he’s happy just being in the shop with me.
It’s kind of neat how the roles reverse as we get older, he was always fixing things and I was the gopher. Now I fix EVERYTHING and he’s a decent gopher :Big Laugh:

Judging by his bag labels he's a "Cranky Perverter".
Tell him I said that...

Cam bearings are out. In order from front to back they are stamped 1, 2, 3, 3, 2. I’ll check the book but I’m pretty sure they’re supposed to be 1-5 in ascending order…
