I am wanting to replace my current truck and am considering instead of buying a new diesel 1-Ton finding a late model Suburban and redoing it.
I know Chevy/GMC made a 4WD 1-Ton Suburban in the 1980's, but I am curious the last actual year they were made and what their towing capacity was. Of course, I'll re-power if needed, but I'm assuming the frame and suspension sets them apart from their 3/4 Ton counterparts?
I routinely tow 8,000 pounds and have on occasion towed 12,000. I like to keep my weights below 2/3 of what is GCWR so 12,000 pounds towing would be my minimum acceptable.
Did Chevy/GMC make a platform to handle that?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
