I have a question I haven't seen addressed much regarding SAS. I have a '96 Tahoe, 4 dr., 4WD and would like to stay with 6 lug and also keep my ABS. Is this possible? Is it possible with
8 lug?

First time reading this thread. Cleared up some basic questions I had about solid axle swaps, thanks Richard.

I'll be keeping an eye on this. I grenaded my IFS today down at the river so it's time for the swap.

Richard could you help me identify this axle? It was supposed to be from a 79 Ford 3/4 ton truck but I'm not so sure. The only info I could find from the BOM on the tag said '77 Ford 3/4 ton. Not a '77-1/2. It has a flat top passenger knuckle. If it is a 77, what reason would I not want to use it?

Ford Dana 44.

Pros would be driver side drop, open knuckle, and disc brakes.

Con would be the fact that this one is low pinion, while the 77.5+ Ford axles are high pinion.
