I'm putting in some new lights that have DRLs and I'm wondering what a good source would be to tap into.

The headlights also have integrated turn signals, would I be fine just splitting off from the existing turn signal wire or would I want to run another, or thicker, wire?

So no DRL from factory. Any keyed power would work, but I'd run a switch inline so you can turn them off when you want to. You can run a jumper off your existing turn signals. If the new lights are LED's you will be fine with small gauge wires, LED's don't draw much power.

Going to use an easy splice for the turn signal, simple enough, and the let my audio installer handle the DRL and switch.
