Has anybody installed a 96-98 grab bar in a 88-95 truck ? Is it possible ?

Which one? There are two setups - one on the passenger A-pillar, the other in the roof. A-pillar I'd say yes, mostly. Roof...not so much.

Problem with installing the A-pillar one is the plastic is formed to meet up with the handle, and you can't simply swap the newer style plastic piece in without doing a lot more swapping as it's not the same as the earlier piece.

I did a full interior swap on a '94 and included the grab handle. It's work, to be sure, but I wanted the swap to be 100%. I made a template and cut a section out of the pillar on a junk truck, drilled the welds out, and welded it in on the project truck.

Not the best pics but you can also see in the 2nd one the holes for the roof grab handle which I skipped (donor truck for the headliner was a 4x4) as I was going to just have the headliner redone anyway.

I was meaning the a pillar An do you have to get that piece you welded in ?

What are you planning to bolt the handle to if you don't have that piece?
