My 1991 is probably overdue for this same job. I already purchased a few of the parts, but wanted to make sure I had everything I was going to need before I got started. Thanks so much for the full list and Moog part numbers. That will be a huge help when it comes time or order the rest of the stuff I need.
I have a few questions for responders to this thread:
First, my truck is a 1991 K1500, the thread starter's truck is a 1999, are these the exact same parts list that I will need for mine, or are there any differences that I'll need to be aware of? I know the 88-94 models were one series when it comes to interiors and certain exterior pieces, and the 95 and up were a refresh of these with some differences. Also, mine is a throttle body injected 350, and the newer models were Vortec 350's, as well as some other differences. How does this work when it comes to suspension and steering? Can I use this parts list part for part, or do I need to look for anything different?
Second question is to those mentioning replacing cab mount bushing and such with polyurethane bushings. I looked at my factory bushings, and the rubber looks squashed, dry rotted and cracked, so while I am under there doing a front end rebuild, I believe it may be prudent to do these at the same time, or shortly thereafter. Is there a complete set I can purchase, or at the very least, a parts list with part numbers for the upgraded ones that I can reference?
Finally, there was mention of different steering shafts and replacement steering boxes. I could use some advice and recommendations on these, as I am thinking I may as well replace those while I'm re-doing the whole front end job.
That is all for now, thanks again for all the information given thus far, and thanks in advance to any who can help with my questions. My truck is one I am trying to revive and rebuild for many more years of regular use to come, so I will be opting for the best parts that I can get when it comes to replacements.
