need help 97 sierra 5.7

Was driving up the interstate tonight and went to accelerate and nothing truck popped and starter running rough and shut off no check engine light or anything no signs of issue before. Tried to start and just turns over and pops and backfires but won't start need help


Have been told might be spider injectors timing fuel pressure or timing chain any help would be great thanks rich

pull the distributor cap and have someone crank the motor while you watch the rotor and see if it turns if it doesnt it may have sheared the gear at the bottom of it

or broke the timing chain.........or a host of other things.

Does sound like an ignition (timing) issue though

Pull a spark plug wire off and see if you have spark. If you have good spark on multiple cylinders, then the timing chain, distributor gear, coil, module, etc should be functional. I would check fuel pressure after that, as your pump could have taken a crap.
