I don't know @#$% about engine performance... so I can't understand why someone would put 305 TBI heads an a 5.7 Vortec (10243880) block?
The motor (none of which is original to the truck) is out of a 94 SCSB Silverado, 8th digit VIN = K.
I picked it up for an LS swap / frame-off restoration project.
I'm trying to figure out how to market the motor it came with.
Someone (maybe way smarter then me) swapped in a 5.7 Vortec short block under the TBI intake manifold which allowed them to use the OEM TBI throttle body, wiring harness and ECM.
I googled the casting number on the heads and sure enough they are indeed 5.0 heads!
Smaller valves and combustion chambers!
WTF!
I'M IN NEED OF SOME EDUCATION.
I kinda understand not wanting to do the wiring & ECM swap and the $500 Summit TBI/Vortec Head intake manifold... but why the 305 heads?
Is there some kind of advantage in using 5.0 heads on a 5.7 block?
