Hello everyone, I’m sure most of you know me and my truck but it’s a little known fact that I have a little brother who just started his sophomore year in high school and is looking at buying his first vehicle. Of course, I’m trying to get him into a GMT400 so I can help him work on it if/when it breaks down so I found a nice little ‘94 C1500 W/T RCLB with a 4.3L in it for a very, very cheap price. The truck runs and drives, but it doesn’t look perfect by any means.

I’m hoping this turns into a project him and I get to do so we can spend more time together, and I’m trying to line up some mods and ideas for him. One of the main ones is a lowering option, as he doesn’t share the same love for lifted trucks that I do. I’ve noticed the truck has a noticable rake, and thought that a set of 2” lowering shackles only in the rear should level the truck out a bit. Would that be a correct way of thinking? Definitely not trying to slam the truck, but still want to give him a level look since he’s never going to tow/haul anything anyways lol.

Looking forward to making another build/revival thread on his truck too!

Shackles would be a good way to level it if that's all your wanting to do. Idk if you still can, but you use to could buy lowering shackles at auto zone for 30 bucks

It's the perfect candidate, no 4wd to worry about, an engine that shouldn't be in a full size truck. DO IT!

Hey, I resemble that remark!

(And I kind of agree, and kind of may or may not be looking for an LQ4...)

LOL, the 4.3 isn't a bad engine, it's just kinda puny for a heavy ass truck.

No LS swap anytime soon, he's on a shoestring budget and even my IT budget doesn't really allow for an LS swap in the immediate future :(

I've been putting together a list for an LS swap for my S10 and getting an idea on prices. You can get an LS truck motor for pretty cheap from the junkyard, it's the T56 that's making my wallet cringe.

The 4.3 in my RCSB has enough power to do what I need it to but not enough for me to start whopping on it for fun. Keeps me out of trouble and the truck doesn't break.
