I read you had to swap the spring perches to do that. I may have found a low mileage one(50k) for about 500 dollars but ill have to drive a little ways to get it. How long do these stronger rear ends usually last? Since I don't pull or hot rod would I expect to get another 150k out of it?

I swapped my 88 k1500 ' 10 bolt out with a 94 c2500 14 bolt and didn't have to change anything except for putting in a conversion u joint.

I should get lucky there, currently I have a 2500 drive shaft in mine with conversion joint for it to bolt to the 10 bolt rear end.

Did you replace the proportioning valve? If not, did your brakes stick?

To swap you need the rear end from the same drive system, a conversion u joint, the spring plates and new u bolts for the larger axle tube.

I you can, I would recommend getting the prop valve from the truck, if it is the same cab and bed configuration as yours. Mine locks the rears up first when you really get on it.
