Front brake line length 96 k1500

I just found a leak in the front brake line that goes above the front crossmember. Anyone know the length? Not for the soft lines but just the hard line for the front that goes over the crossmember.

I was also wondering if I would be able to just cut the line off and replace with a braided line just to get somewhere to work on it.
I'm broke down in my apartment complex as of now so I have to do this quick and easy as possible.

Also what sizes are the fittings on the brake line? I read that they are 3/8-24, is that correct and does that mean I'd be able to find/make a braided line with those fittings on it and attach it to the old fittings?
