OK, I know OP isn't into it for the distance involved, but someone posts ads so I gotta look.

Holy crap that 65K mile 1991 model is SA-WEET! Dunno if I could part with $6500 for a regular cab but that would make someone a very, very nice truck. Dig the black/gray deluxe two-tone as well, didn't see that one often.

Some of those other ones look pretty sketchy but for the price they are what they are. The steal of the bunch seems to be the maroon '89 extended cab in Pearland, if you can get them down on the price a little bit, but only if it's a V8. I wouldn't buy a V6 truck whatsoever, due to power level, and the fact that -usually- they just don't last in these fullsize trucks. Generally though from people mashing the pedal as if it was a V8...

I would skip the '88, that's the Muncie SM465. Low gear, no overdrive. Would be fine for a farm truck like OP wants but I wouldn't want to daily drive that thing on the road.

I'm working on a similar project on my 99 suburban. Thanks for the diagram. Is 14 gauge sufficient or should I use 12 gauge?

Wow, I'm reading your edited post, I know who to contact if I need help looking. Those are some nice trucks.

I have a lot of free time at work... It's turned me into a Craigslist addict. LOL I can find anything anywhere!

x2. I love that black/grey!

I would think that 14g would be alright

I just checked out Baltimore CL real quick... I've spent a lot of time in New England (NY, VT, NH, etc.) and I remember cringing at all the rust I saw around there.. lol I really expected your area to be the same. A lot of these trucks are fairly descent looking. Idk how close these all are to ya... Like I said just killing time at the end of the day and did a quick search.

Woah! I didn't see this one when I was looking! I'm adding that to my list.
I found the red/silver one in Pasadena, it's already on my list.

Rust is really hit or miss around here. Some have more rust than steel, others vice-verse.

I found this one in New Jersey:

This one in PA:

And this one in Richmond:

All of these are on my list.

The Jersey truck is the best of those three though the repaint can be hiding a lot of rust repair, so check it closely.

That PA truck I would avoid as it's no fun replacing all the hard lines due to rust-out. You can be sure you'll find much more that needs replacing, too. EDIT - I guess I read "new" as "needs", maybe it's not such a bad truck. Look over it very closely for other stuff rusted though. Kind of surprised it has a TH400 transmission...and no idea WTF he means by "fuel shoots 6lbs light" does he mean it has low fuel pressure?!

The Richmond truck is a 6 cyl...I would pass right off the bat.

I wasn't sure it was a re-paint, though I guess with the age and the typical fading these trucks have, I suppose it probably is.

Yeah, I was surprised at the TH400. I'm 99% sure all of these trucks originally had a 700R4 or 4L60. I've seen quite a few ads though claiming TH400. I'm close to crossing it off the list, I don't want a TH400. The fuel thing is a mystery.

I'm not thrilled about the 6 cyl. I had it on there as a possbile 'worst case scenario'.

Honestly, the Jersey truck, the Pasadena truck, and the Gailstown truck are my best options.

There's also a 97 GMC outside of Pittsburgh, which is nice. But it's much newer than I want.

The shiny paint and lack of molding and cab emblems is what tells me that Jersey truck is a repaint. No way a '90 would still be shiny like that on original paint unless it's been garage kept from day 1.

Quite a few of the early half ton V6 trucks came with the TH400 (actually called the 3L80 by then) but the only V8 trucks you would generally see with them would be 8 lug 3/4 ton and 1 tons prior to 1991 (when the 4L80E came out.)
