Recently I rebuilt my 5.7 in my '95 and I obviously cut a corner by purchasing a new distributor from eBay for about $48
Ignition Distributor For Chevy GM 350 5.7L EFI TBI TPI Vortec 5.0L RED Cap+Roto

Now it seems that I continue to get the OBD1 error code 42 (Ignition bypass circuit/control module). This will be the third time replacing. My idle is erratic and the timing is all over the place....of course !

Any suggestions on a preferred dizzy without breaking the bank?

Thanks

No idea about the "without breaking the bank" part of your question, but I stick to ACDelco for ignition parts in my '97s and have never had any issues. In fact I'm pretty sure they're both still running factory distributor bodies.

My bad... Was meant more in the line of.. . Without going broke for one ! ;)

I've seen prices from $50 to several hundred ... I understand my $50 one seems to be crap, but at what price point does it become... They're all the same ?

Find a used-but-usable Delco distributor body, clean it up, drop it in. clearly, you want Delco or reputable aftermarket parts in it. The module, and the pickup coil/magnet assembly is particularly important. I wound up putting a new GM distributor shaft in mine years ago.

Buying Communist crap is unlikely to be satisfying--no matter how much money they charge for it.
