With any used vehicle I ever bought, I change ALL the fluids to get to a base. You will see if any concerns at rear diff if you open the cover up. Hell, while you are in there, do the axle seals.

All the more reason to have the vehicle inspected before purchase, if you are worried.

No a bad idea if you're not familiar what to look for. Can be the $100 that saves thousands.

I agree. I go thru them and like to fix/replace before is broke, on all wear items. Like my signature says.

I spent 4 years in Okinawa and they'd rust from the top down, not the bottom up as you're looking for.

Salt in the air did that. When I ran shops, I could pick out a coast vehicle. They have salt corrosion on lots of components and all over the top of engine.
