I know you aren't on FB but man I found a sharp '99 K2500 Burb 7.4 with only 81K miles. Silver, gray cloth, new tires on aftermarket wheels. Asking $13.5K and it's in Denton TX. A chunk of change but a sharp truck with low miles for the age.

Don't believe you need an FB account to see the ad though:

Also stumbled across a GMT800 K2500 'Burb with the 8.1 and a Whipplecharger......... looks like a whole lotta trouble

I've had a bunch of burbs, square, 400 and 800,2&4wd bbbbbbbbbiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggg and small block. 800 in 3/4 gets you leafs in the rear I would look for an 8.1. In a 400 I would look for 3/4 WITH 454. I wouldn't turn down a small block but they can stuff them 6.0's, they make power and twist but got no torque. My 5.7 vortec and 7.4 vortec and 6.0 in my Escalade are 12mpg trucks the way i drive. My 8.1 is 14 at 90 locked in 4x4 bucking snow. Got enough torque to pull the house off the foundation and really needs a tighter converter and it would get better milage. My favorite by far. My 99 5.7 sub has 2 week cylinders but true duels and no cats. With a bad motor it's more pleasant to drive than my 6.0. My 410 geared square with th400 and tbi454 was better than that 6.0. The ls motor would be fun in a toy, it makes power but I hate it. It blows all 4 up in smoke from a stop if you shut the traction control off but it's got a loose converter to make it work. I'm looking for a 2wd 800 scsb with a dead 4.8. Swap the 6.0 and have a toy.
As far as brakes hard to beat 800 3/4 rear disc. My 99 k1500 burb has the big rear drums and they sucked. They looked good but were worthless. I threw all the stuff away and put new drums, shoes, adjusters and hardware in. Hard pedal and awesome brakes. 100k later they need to be done again. If you want a clean k1500 suburban my boy bought one that got coolant in the oil. K1500 5.7 97-99. White from id. I believe it runs but your motor would cure it. Pm me if you are interested and I'll get you two together
