1994 Silverado C1500 5.7L, having intermittent slow starts so took the oem starter to a shop & it was verified good, but it is original with 295k mi. RockAuto is my go to, would rather have new but reman is ok. Remy or ACDelco are preferred? All connections are good & I will be installing a coil first for troubleshooting as this 2nd coil I'm running is an ACDelco with 90k mi. Thanks for suggestions, Robert.

Test battery, visually check battery connections. Do the grounds at eng and frame back to battery need cleaning.Did battery pass full load test?
Amazon had ACDelco starters on sale with 25$ rebate, prepaid core return shipping. Do know how long ?
Good luck.

New battery(good), grounds are good. How about ACDelco 3361910A ?
Numbers on my oem starter: 9888786 or rather 9000786 / 15G94B.

I made a similar thread recently regarding my '97 K1500 Suburban with a Vortec 5.7L. There's some good info in there:

Long story short, I ended up going with a Bosch SR8552N. New production and assembled in the USA. Haven't installed it yet because the factory one stopped giving me trouble, at least temporarily.

Mine went out a short time ago. I went with one of the smaller high torque starters. Much better performance & quality. Also…lighter to install!

Here is the original. Reckon I want a “new” replacement. Denso? Bosch? Powermaster? Thanks for suggestions!

That's one of the nice mini starters. I saved my original with the intent if eventually getting it rebuilt locally.

The new Denso starters are nice but pricey. From what I e seen online they are either made here in the US, or Japan. I didnt have the extra money, so I bought a new Korean made Acdelco. Unfortunately the original heat shield doesn't fit.
