I think, on the 800s, that as long as you're changing the lights on a pickup, to another fleetside pickup, they interchange. That generation is where GM decided to start having different taillights for the different styles of trucks and SUVs.
I know the Denali used different tails than the pickup, and the Sportside ones are unique to them. Then the next generation after the 800, is when GMCs start having different taillights than Chevys.
I was, perhaps mistakenly, under the impression that the GMT400 and GMT800 trucks had different wiring between GMC and Chevrolet for the taillights. Am I dead wrong on that? I need a decent replacement taillight as one of mine was so brittle I noticed a small crack and pressed it with my thumb and now there's a silver dollar sized hole in it lol

400s are all the same taillight. So they're wired the same as long as we're talking about the factory lights. Gets a bit more complicated when you introduce aftermarket taillights into the discussion.
800s however used one style of taillight for the fleetside pickup, another one for the Sportside, and yet another for the non Escalade SUVs. Then the Avalanche was introduced and theirs are different as well. I believe GMC and Chevy still use the same lights as long as it's the same type of truck.... I believe the "different brand, different lens" thing started for GMC and Chevy on the 900s(07-13).
I honestly don't remember, it's been so long since I changed bulbs in the Denali, if that factory taillight has a circuit board like the 400 or if it's a separate socket for each bulb.

Good to know! Thanks for the info. I'll have to grab a set soon then. I see way more Chevy's than GMC's in my area and for some reason I thought they were wired differently or had a different board.

Yes I was just talking about the ratio of GMC vs. Chevy the other day! In Houston, Texas area it seems to be at least 8:1 in favor of the Chevys. I actually saw a couple of GMC 400s in the last couple days, along with several Chevys, but couldn't get pictures. Couldn't get my phone camera up and open quickly enough, or they disappeared in traffic too fast.

I know I've seen some different styles of aftermarket taillights for the 800s but they've been on trucks I saw(so I don't know how they are wired/set up internally vs. stock).

They're definitely more rare but one positive that I've noticed is it seems like the GMC trucks that I do see around are usually higher trim levels whereas I see a ton of base model Chevrolets around. Nothing wrong with base models at all but I don't own one so I'm always keeping my eye out for similar trucks that I can snag parts from. Got a *decent* hood from a GMC the other day and threw it on this morning to replace the bent up hood I had. Instant improvement in the looks department.

Welp, Alice got brutalized by the hail last night. We had something approaching golf ball sized hail, and it was falling so fast and thick that we couldn't see any past about 40-50 ft at the peak of it, even with a bad *** flashlight. Fiancé's car got it even worse, and grandparent's car got it worst of all. The E150 got a window knocked out.

Dang that hurts to see; I know last time we had a storm roll through with a chance for hail I sacrificed a few big cardboard boxes I was saving and covered up both my trucks and the wife's car.
What's the plan now? Hopefully insurance doesn't try to total anything out?

Sorry to hear/see that..... we've had a good bit of rain in Houston, but nothing like that! I know north of town, Conroe, Huntsville, etc. got a lot more rain than we did. Don't know about any hail, because I haven't been in contact with the guys I know up that way yet.
@SUBURBAN5 , how'd y'all come through this storm?
