97 Chevy Steering wheel upgrades?

If i wanted 03-06 steering wheel from the trucks. Could I just use the shaft out of that column

From what ive found the shafts are the same and wheel should work and I'm looking for the non button version of that wheel so I couldn't say if buttons would work

I just tried an 03 wheel on my 97 and it did not work. The 03 and up shaft is larger. I'm going to look into a steering column swap next.

Just checking.. did you mean you got the 03 shaft and it wouldn't fit in the 97 column?

If you're asking about a race-style quick release, get a splined-shaft mount, and not a cheap/sloppy hex-shaft mount. There are plenty out there. The weld-on ones are about $50. If you want one that slips right on a GM column, you're looking at about $100. Note that the ididit QRs need the GM adapter, sold separately.

I think I figured it out. NRG has some adapters and quick releases on amazon. Just have to go to their website to figure out fitment!
